Chonnettia Jones

Director of Insight and Analysis, Wellcome Trust

Chonnettia Jones is Director of Insight and Analysis at the Wellcome Trust, a private charitable foundation dedicated to improving health through research, innovation, policy and engagement with society. With an annual charitable spend of £1 billion, Wellcome supports more than 14,000 people in 100 countries.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Chonnettia provides strategic leadership to maximize the impact of the achievements that arise from Wellcome’s funded research and strategic initiatives. Before taking up this role, she managed the coordination, monitoring and evaluation of major science initiatives funded by Wellcome. She also serves as a non-executive director on the Board for the Anthony Nolan Foundation and the Wellcome Leap Fund and as a member of the EMBO Publications Advisory Board. Prior to joining Wellcome, Chonnettia managed a collaborative scientific research program at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Chonnettia has more than twenty years of experience in science research, strategy and evaluation. She trained as a geneticist and developmental biologist at Emory University.
