Anthony Aguirre

Anthony Aguirre is a Professor of Physics and holder of the Faggin faculty chair at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is co-founder and co-operator of the Foundational Questions Institute, which supports and funds research on foundational scientific questions. He is also a co-founder and core team member of the Future of Life Institute, which aims to improve the long-term trajectory of humanity in the face of radical technological change. Aguirre is proprietor of Metaculus, a platform to crowdsource predictions about technological and scientific advances. Dr. Aguirre’s scientific research concerns an array topics in theoretical physics, including the early universe and inflation, gravity and black holes, foundations of quantum and statistical mechanics, and information theory. He is author of the recent Cosmological Koans: A Journey to the Heart of Physical Reality.
