Annie Franco

Annie Franco is a senior research scientist at Facebook. Her work combines tools from social science, causal inference, and machine learning both to build products and algorithms, and to understand their impact on real world outcomes. Throughout her time at Facebook she has led cross-functional research teams focused on civic engagement on social media, political communication and polarization, and fairness and accountability of AI. She is also a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. Her graduate research on publication bias in the social sciences has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Science, Political Analysis, and the Journal of Experimental Political Science, and has been featured in Nature, The Washington Post, TIME, and Pacific Standard.
