Kevin Gross

Professor of Statistics, North Carolina State University

Kevin-Gross-metascience2019Kevin Gross is an ecological theorist and statistician in the Biomathematics Program at North Carolina State University. His disciplinary research uses mathematical and statistical models to investigate the dynamics and ecology of non-human populations. His ecological research has examined themes such as how species interactions foster or erode resilience to environmental change, how environmental templates shape patterns of species diversity, and the rehabilitation and management of rare or endangered species. Currently, his ecological work examines the resilience of coral reefs. Within the science of science, he is broadly interested in how scientists use statistics, and how that use facilitates or impedes discovery and the collective acquisition of knowledge. He is also interested in how scientific funders can efficiently and effectively identify promising ideas to support.
